NAIOP Honors the Life, Legacy of Rex Hime

On behalf of our six chapters and more than 3,000 members across the state of California, NAIOP offers sincere condolences on the passing of Rex Hime, the 37-year president and CEO of the California Business Properties Association (CBPA) and a longtime friend and legislative ally of our association.

For decades, Rex's understanding of the legislative and political process was instrumental in the commercial real estate community’s success. Significant legislative and ballot issues, including multiple split roll initiatives, would not have been defeated without his strong leadership.

Rex spoke frequently at NAIOP events, educating countless commercial real estate industry professionals and effectively conveying the importance of their involvement in advocacy on local, state and federal levels. He partnered with our California chapters to form powerful alliances that protected our businesses and advanced our industry. Through it all, Rex’s good humor, kind-heartedness and legendary Hawaiian shirts endeared him to lawmakers, colleagues and the many professionals whose success he helped make possible.

NAIOP chapters and members across California send our sympathy to his wife and sons as we honor Rex’s exceptional life and enduring legacy.
