The State of Onshoring in the U.S.

1:35 p.m. - 2:20 p.m. MT

Lingering impacts of pandemic-related supply chain disruptions and continued trade tensions between China and the U.S. have made just-in-time logistics and sprawling global supply chains less attractive to manufacturers than they once were. The authors of "Forging the Future: Manufacturing Growth and Its Effects on North American Industrial Markets" will explore how incentives created by the U.S. federal government are leading to infrastructure investment that will support an expansion of the nation’s industrial capacity.

After their presentation, they'll lead an interactive panel discussion on how real estate investors can participate in this expansion, and the rewards and risks of deploying capital in an important and evolving sector.

Speakers:
Liz Berthelette, CRE, Head of Northeast Research & National Life Science Research, Newmark
Lisa DeNight, Managing Director, National Industrial Research, Newmark

Panelists:
Daniel English, Managing Partner, Legacy Investments

Forging the Future: Manufacturing Growth and Its Effects on North American Industrial Markets

The NAIOP Research Foundation commissioned this report to examine the trends behind reshoring and nearshoring and to evaluate how related investments in manufacturing are affecting North American markets for industrial real estate and its two largest components: warehousing/logistics space and manufacturing space. The study draws from secondary sources, Newmark market data and interviews with commercial real estate professionals to identify major new manufacturing announcements, quantify related construction activity and evaluate effects on adjacent real estate markets.

The report summary is available in english and spanish.
