Suzanne Lanyi Charles, Cornell University, and Fred Forgey, Nova Southeastern University, join program

The NAIOP Research Foundation has announced the addition of two new Distinguished Fellows. The Foundation’s Distinguished Fellows program engages leading commercial real estate, economic and public policy experts, helping to bridge the practicing commercial real estate and academic communities.
Suzanne Lanyi Charles, Ph.D., Associate Professor in the Department of City and Regional Planning and the Baker Program in Real Estate, Cornell University
Dr. Charles’ teaching and research examine physical, social and economic changes, with a focus on infill redevelopment and mansionization, the financialization of housing and single-family rental housing. Charles previously held faculty positions at the University of Michigan and Northeastern University and worked as an architect at the Renzo Piano Building Workshop in Paris and as a vice president at Booth Hansen Architects in Chicago. Charles is a recipient of a 2021-2022 Fulbright US Scholar award to collaborate with Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, a research university located in Belgium, on a comparative study of institutional real estate.
Fred Forgey, Ph.D., Director of the Terry W. Stiles School of Real Estate Development and Chair of the Public Administration and Real Estate Development Department, Nova Southeastern University
Dr. Forgey has served on the faculty of Texas A&M University; University of Auckland – New Zealand; University of Texas at Austin; University of Texas Arlington; and the University of North Texas. His research interests are focused on sustainability in the built environment and governmental intervention in real estate markets.
Distinguished Fellows’ industry knowledge and academic background provide valuable insights to NAIOP leadership and members. As active participants in NAIOP, Distinguished Fellows provide advice, feedback and information regarding research being conducted in commercial real estate.
