Virtual Tour: Ballston Quarter
Take a virtual getaway to the urban destination of Ballston Quarter, in the heart of Arlington, Virginia, outside of Washington, D.C. In 1951, Ballston, then called Parkington, was the largest suburban shopping mall on the East Coast and the first built around a multistory parking garage. Beginning in 2015, Forest City Enterprises, now Brookfield Properties, recreated Ballston Quarter as an open-air city center that includes 360,000 square feet of retail space, 176,000 square feet of office space, a 25,000-square-foot food hall and a 406-unit residential building. Ballston Quarter is also home to the MedStar Capitals Iceplex, where the NHL’s Washington Capitals practice. The development has easy access to two lines of the Metrorail system along with 3,000 parking spaces.
