HERNDON, VA (May 15, 2019) – NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, has announced the six recipients of its annual diversity student scholarship. The scholarship program supports students who are pursuing a degree in commercial real estate and is a key component of the association’s pledge to advance diversity in commercial real estate.
“NAIOP is pleased to recognize these exceptional individuals and to support them in their commercial real estate education through our annual diversity student scholarship program. We look forward to bright futures for each of our award recipients,” said Thomas J. Bisacquino, NAIOP president and CEO. “By advancing diversity in commercial real estate and investing in the next generation of industry leaders, NAIOP is working to build a broader pool of talent and a more agile and resilient industry.”
NAIOP is awarding four $5,000 graduate student scholarships as well as two $2,500 undergraduate student scholarships to individuals from demographics that are traditionally underrepresented in commercial real estate and whose universities are part of the NAIOP University Membership program.
Recipients of NAIOP’s 2019 Diversity Student Scholarship are:
|Robert Conley, a graduate student in the Master of Real Estate Development Program at Auburn University and a past member of NAIOP Alabama who recently relocated to Houston.
||Nathan Huynh, an undergraduate student double-majoring in real estate and finance at the University of San Diego and a member of NAIOP San Diego.
||James Kilpatrick, a graduate student in the Master of Real Estate Development program at the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah and a member of NAIOP Utah.
|Gabriel Lazcano, a graduate student in the Master of Real Estate Development program at Clemson University and a NAIOP Member-at-Large.
||Melissa Meagher, a graduate student in the Master of Real Estate Development program at Portland State University and a member of NAIOP Oregon.
||Linh My Tran, an undergraduate student majoring in real estate and development/urban studies and planning at the University of California, San Diego and a member of NAIOP San Diego.
In addition to the scholarship, each award recipient will have the opportunity to make new professional connections and sharpen his or her commercial real estate acumen with complimentary registration for NAIOP’s CRE.Converge 2019, October 14-16, in Los Angeles, California.
