The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) hosted their annual meeting for state Democratic leaders from across the country in Las Vegas last week. The two-day meeting included sessions on affordable housing, community safety, and other policy matters.
NAIOP government affairs staff attended the meeting, holding one-on-one meetings with state legislators, including Pennsylvania House Democratic Leader Matthew Bradford, on several NAIOP’s state legislative priorities. The priorities include issues related to local permitting reforms, adaptive reuse of underutilized commercial real estate, and affordable housing needs.
The DLCC is the official arm of the Democratic Party, whose mission is to elect Democrats to state legislatures. According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, there are currently 4,026 Republican, 3,264 Democratic, and 96 Independent, other or vacant seats within 98 legislative chambers. (Nebraska is not included because elections to the unicameral chamber are held on a nonpartisan basis.)
