CRE Executives Optimistic, by Akerman

Investors and lenders are more confident in the United States commercial real estate market than they have been at any other time since the start of the Great Recession, according to the 2014 Akerman Real Estate Industry Outlook Survey. Seventy percent of real estate executives surveyed said they have a more optimistic outlook than they did in 2013.

Canadian CRE Executives Optimistic, by REALpac/FPL

The REALpac/FPL Canadian Real Estate Sentiment Survey for the first quarter of 2014 indicates that, for the first time in a year, senior commercial real estate executives in Canada feel that things are looking up for the industry. The survey, which is conducted by the Real Property Association of Canada and FPL Advisory Group, questioned CEOs and other industry executives in January about their current level of confidence in the business.

Here’s an Innovative Employee Benefit: Bike-Share Membership

There is a strong case to be made for adding bike-sharing membership as an employee benefit, particularly at tech firms, according to Eric Jaffe, writing in the June 13, 2013 edition of The Atlantic Cities. Jaffe cites the experience of a New York City tech firm named Percolate, a small marketing company that helps businesses to create content pegged to social media. When a bike-sharing service, called Citi Bike, was launched in New York City earlier this year, the firm purchased memberships for all 47 people on staff so that they could commute to work or to appointments on bicycle. The new employee benefit was a hit with staff members.
